The OnStage Award is given every year to an original play by an American playwright. Its aim is to promote contemporary American playwriting and to offer the winner the opportunity to showcase their work in Italy, by having their play premiere during the Festival as a reading. Submissions are open to any and all playwrights living in North America and writing primarily in English. A jury of theater professionals working in Italy and in the USA, theater critics, and multi-disciplinary artists will select the winner. The prize will consist of the Italian translation of the winning play, and a public reading of the translation during the OnStage!festival, featuring a professional cast and production team curated by the Festival. The translation of the winning play will be also printed as part of the OnStage Award series.
Submissions for the OnStage Playwriting Award are open every year. This category is open to any and all unproduced plays by American playwrights. We seek submissions across any and all themes, subject matters, and theatrical styles. Detailed information and submission guidelines will be described in the OnStage! Award Call for submission document, available on this website after the last OnStage!festival edition.
