Sergio Gotti

Sergio Gottii è diplomato presso l’Istituto Statale d’Arte “J.

On the occasion of the second edition of the On Stage Award, it is the artist and set designer Sergio Gotti who creates a work especially for the Award.

Born in Cisterna di Latina in 1951, Sergio Gotti graduated from the “J. Romani ”in Velletri (Rome), the city where he lives and works.

His work has always been characterized by the continuous search for new expressive themes. Besides the many collective and personal exhibitions, he regularly devotes himself to theatrical scenography. A tireless maker of stories, as an artist he is naturally projected into a theatrical dimension yet never “spectacular”. His imagination draws on history, myth and epic, while his technique recovers poor art, managing to infuse dynamic energy and bring to new life packaging, wood, iron otherwise destined for waste. Under his touch the cardboard vibrates, the wood breathes, the paper ignites and the scene becomes action, a mechanical device, a Dadaist contraption that turns, spins, creaks, in a word it works.
